An iPhone Fold concept is gradually becoming more of a reality as recent reports show that a device of such is in the works. In late January, MacRumors highlighted a report that Apple is in the final stages of selecting its key supplier for foldable display technology. Then, renowned tech insider Digital Chat Station, suggested last week that the iPhone Fold will have a build of 5.5-inches on the outer screen and 7.74-inches on the inner display, smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
For a while now there’s been rumors of Apple prioritizing a foldable tablet before a phone, but with those suggested dimensions it seems that the company could be working on both simultaneously. While release dates have varied from late 2025 to 2027, it’s to lean towards the later end, especially because Apple’s in no rush. In the mean time, let’s look at what an ideal iPhone Fold should have.
iPhone Fold Ideal Key Features

Unnoticeable Hinge Crease Mechanism
If Apple is going to take it’s time with creating this phone, the number one part that has to be perfect is the hinge. Not only does the hinge have to be effective after repeated uses and not wear out easily, but its hinge needs to unnoticeable. It’s a hard task, as current models still have slightly noticeable ones, but the visual component is major here.
Optimal Camera Set Up
Neither the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold or the Galaxy Z Fold 6 carry the best camera setup for their respective brands. And for those phones to cost nearly $1,000 more than the models with the best camera quality, it can be better for the amount of money you’re paying with these kind of phones. The iPhone 16 Pro’s 48 MP Fusion camera setup with 4K Dolby video recording ranging from 25-100 fps , would be a great starting point for the iPhone Fold.
Long-Lasting Battery Life
Battery life is one of the biggest complaints with foldable phones, as phones with two screens are inevitability going to consume significantly higher amounts of battery than a regular phone. An experimented conducted by Mashable found that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold last 16 hours on a full charge, while the Z Fold 6 was 13. By the time the iPhone Fold comes out, at least 20 hours of battery life would be ideal, along with strong wireless charging capabilities.
The iPhone Fold’s Biggest Opponent Is The Oppo Find N5?

The slimmest foldable phone in the world, Oppo’s Find N5 has garnered a tremendous amount of early praise for its slick and overall design, so much so that Oppo’s brother company OnePlus may scrap plans on its own new foldable. It offers MacOS integration with its Oppo Office Assistant feature, allowing users to access and control their Mac devices remotely. With the iPhone fold likely having a keyboard setup with one of the screen, one could hope that would mean allow desktop documents to be more easily accessible compared to single-screen models.
Don’t expect the Apple iPhone Fold any time soon, but when it’s finally ready, it’s going to have great competition.
